Getting Started
Logging In#
To login follow the link to MeshNET Vision (MNV) web app provided by The ARCS Group. This will lead users to the log in page of MeshNET Vision as shown below in Figure 1. Using the log in details supplied by the IoT project manager the user can access the platform.
Landing Page and Navigation#
Once logged in the user will be taken to the devices home page seen in Figure 2. To the left users will see a navigation side menu containing the main pages of the app (see Figure 3). Each of these will be outlined in the following sections. Users can navigate to the relevant page by selecting these menu items. Users will also see a panel like that seen in Figure 5 at the top right which provides links to a user’s profile (the person icon) and a link to this document for system help (the question mark icon).
The home page seen in Figure 2 provides list of root device groups for the various device types. These device groups can contain devices and sub groups allowing users to group related device for control and organisational purposes. Users can drill down to these device group pages by selecting the relevant item from this list. Users can also navigate directly to devices and group pages by searching for them in the search bar at the top of the page (see Figure 6) and selecting the appropriate result. Users can search for devices and groups by ID and device type.
Also seen on the landing page are badges indicating the control mode and state of the certain controllable groups. The grey off badge indicates the root GPO group is currently off. And the red and white dim badges for the smart light groups show that all groups are currently dimmed to 0%. The auto and man badges to the left of these state badges indicate the current control mode of the group. Auto indicates the groups are following a daily schedule where the state of the group may change over time while man indicates the group is constant state. Note non controllable device types such as the EMS display neither badge as they only collect information.
Admin users will also see a create root group form which allows admin users to create new root groups in the system by submitting the new group’s device type and ID (see Figure 4).
Status Map#
The home page also includes a map showing the location and status (see 4) of all devices the user has permission to view circle markers. Users can click these map markers to see the devices ID, device type, group ID and status badge (see Figure 7). These IDs are also links to the device or groups page. A status map is also present on each group page showing only devices in that group and on each device page show the location of that single device. Users can zoom in and out on the map by; using the plus and minus controls in the corner of the map, double clicking on area they wish to zoom to or scrolling in or out on the map area. To scroll past the map place the cursor outside the map area and scroll. On mobile you can achieve this by dragging outside the map area.
For lights with an ok status the devices marker colour is given either a light blue if the device is off or a shade of green where increasingly brighter green indicating dim level of the light where fully bright green means the light is dimmed to 100%.
Dark blue markers are also used to indicate the location of network gateways. The user can hover over these gateway markers to see connection lines to devices that are communicating through the gateway (see Figure 8). User can also click the gateway marker to view a list of IDs of connecting devices including RSSI and SNR values giving user information on signal strength with the gateway (see Figure 9).
